When Limbs Die - Professor H & The Bandits

Beginning Of The Journey:

At Seven-Teen years of age I discovered a set of brushtip markers that gave me an outlet to express my inner being through an explosive world of intricacy and colour. Always drawing while listening to the music I love, I dove into this world to create the following artworks throughout the years:

Approx. 5cm x 8cm

This is my first piece I created while discovering my style of drawing.

I let my hand and marker wander naturally without much attention on the outcome. This was the beginning of my psychedelic style's artistic journey.

Our evolution has had humanity self-consumed

by our own machinery, and as we grow older, we are consumed by our own creations and loose grasp of nature.

Firstly, there is a human in a suit, representing corporation and the everyday worker. Their head is replaced with a massive construction faucet! We have become so focused on machines and materialistic growth, that we have forgotten about nature, and consume ourselves with unnatural materials on a daily basis. We are so involved in our work that we are becoming what we made for ourselves.

Kneeling on a rock with flowers and water around it, reaching out to a butterfly that is flying away from us, unable to grasp nature as we are consumed by machine now.

What is coming out of the faucet is a whole different story. The psychedelic patterns can bring a sense of being high and out of reality. Whilst the colours and patterns look natural and crazy, they are really an artificial high, created by our own need to escape. Overall, it is a self-induced high, having made the artificial high ourselves. Especially as adults, we are losing connection with nature and you could say human’s innocence and beauty before discovering machine.

Thank you to my dear friend Gabriel Ghiglione for drawing the black & white portion.

"Bliss"

May 2011

10cm x 7cm

I intended to capture the feelings and essence of loving bliss with this piece. The energy of falling in love with the moment through bliss. That moment is mesmerizing and intoxicating and those were the feelings experienced when falling in love when I was younger. Everything is so fresh and so raw, experiencing everything for the first time.

With Bliss, I experimented with new patterns and textures, many of which I have kept as staples in my style going forward. Namely, the sun rays and flow of rain drops.
