At the end of the day, we all just crave connection. This wall is a symbol of my perception of Holbox’s chasing energy, and my personal feelings in my time here. 

The island thrives by catering to the pleasures of the tourist. To satisfy that never ending bunny inside which craves the ultimate selfy, the perfect love story, or the ultimate food and fuck. Superficialism (sorry dictionary, it’s a word now). It’s impossible to escape it. On the flip side of the story of “The Chase”, there is the artists feelings and self expression while being here. Often feeling disgusted and frustrated by my perception of the energy here, mixed with loneliness, feeling to explode on the island like the paint on the wall. Then to satisfy that underlying crave for connection and attention; by the sensationalist outbursts of using a mop, my feet, my saliva, as brushes on this wall canvas - all to feel a part of this crazy show that is holbox. It’s a love hate relationship, but such is my life of an ungrounded artist making a living on this island I called home for 3 months.
